RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

An analyst on the commodities sales desk wears many hats while working extensively with customers and supporting the internal sales team. Analyst responsibilities range from updating customers on day to day movements in the market to performing statistical analysis, updating marketing material and executing trades. Commodities sales analysts are expected to be well informed about the markets, proficient with our internal tools and be able to successfully articulate views to our customers. An academic background in economics is not a prerequisite for the role. However, facility with math and the ability to analyze new information quickly is essential. In all cases, analysts must posess a keen desire to learn. As the commodities markets are uniquely impacted by world events, sales analysts should be inquisitive about the political and economic climate and understand how geopolitical events impact our markets.

 

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Co-ordinate day to day trading activities; execution, booking and confirmation
  • Maintaining standard marketing materials and providing custom analysis on numerous derivative products
  • Field incoming calls and client requests.

Skills and Experiences:

  • At least 1 year of experience in sales / trading role in Securities Division or Client Coverage in IBD
  • Strong quantitative background, experience working with derivatives a plus
  • Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure without compromising work integrity
  • Strong interpersonal / communication skills
  • Experience with asset allocation and portfolio theory a plus
