The Equities Quant Program in APAC delivers a platform for GS' current and prospective quant clients for trading Equities.  Quant developers are focused on infrastructure for the lifecycle of trades for these quant clients.

The Equities Quant Program in APAC delivers a platform for GS' current and prospective quant clients for trading Equities. Quant developers are focused on infrastructure for the lifecycle of trades for these quant clients. Key features include lower latency, higher throughput, position and account management for both co-location and existing GS OM2 flows. Additional engineers allow for platform build roadmap between 2017-2019, allowing GS to significantly grow gross revenues from 2016 to 2020. Quant clients will also drive increases in market share for GS APAC over the same timeframe, leading significant benefits in both tiering and liquidity for all clients.


Prime Services is a technology intensive business that aims to provide our clients with all the tools and services to run their business. Securities Lending in this business facilitates the short sale of securities, helping our clients manage risk and maintain liquidity. Goldman Sachs is one of the world’s leading institutions in this business conducting borrowing and lending activities with clients. It’s important part of the Asia Equities Quant Program offering.


We regularly consider new technology products available in the market or in the firm to meet our clients' needs and high trading volumes. As a result, we are constantly expanding our platform to offer clients more products, creating opportunities for people in the group to gain experience in a variety of different technologies.



The primary role of the candidate is to design, develop, maintain and support the suite of applications and system flows for Securities Lending business in Hong Kong, as part of the Asia Equities Quant Program build out.


The candidate is expected to participate in the entire software development life cycle from definition of requirements and development through to deployment and providing support/maintenance. Developing complex global systems primarily in JAVA, the candidate will be exposed to a plethora of modern technologies such as Elastic Search, GS dynamic compute farms, Rabbit MQ, Rest Service architecture, cloud based storage and many more. The successful candidate will work closely with traders, Strats, operations and technology peers in the region to define behavior, services, and interfaces for the tools under development. The candidate is also expected to work with colleagues in other regions as part of the global team structure. There will be a need to analyze the business needs, proposing and driving ideas, projects and initiatives to improve the business.


Basic Qualifications

  • Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or other related technical discipline
  • Strong development experience with Java and solid object oriented programming skills. 
  • Experience in SQL and database technologies, Sybase or UDB preferred
  • Team-oriented with strong communication and user-facing skills
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Experience with the full software development lifecycle
  • Highly self-motivated, committed and multi-tasking
  • Experience providing high quality production support to a demanding user base
  • Ability to master new technologies and business concepts quickly with strong interest


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with real-time systems/messaging infrastructures (e.g. EMS, JMS, RabbitMQ)
  • Experience with big data analytic tools (e.g. Elasticsearch, Kibana, Data Lake) is a plus
  • Experience with modern web technologies (e.g. JavaScript, HTML, ReactJS, AngularJS, RESTful)
  • Experience being primary contact for user base for product/regional business is a plus
  • Experience leading a small team of 2+ people, or small-mid size projects is a plus
  • Securities Lending or other equities knowledge is a plus
