In FICC Technology we use both open source industry standard and internal proprietary technologies to build cutting edge platforms for pricing, execution, and control over each of these millions of transactions.



    The FICC Systematic Market Making (SMM) business consolidates and expands the firm’s electronic market making and algorithmic trade execution. The FICC SMM Technology team partners with SMM Trading & SMM Engineering to develop and support the pricing and trading platforms for the firm and its clients. The team is responsible for projects to build applications and system flows for trade booking, reconciliation and risk management. A major area of focus is system reliability engineering; including increasing automation, improving real-time monitoring, and developing metrics. Team members are also tasked with supporting the day-to-day operations of the trading desk and the electronic trading systems. Along with these responsibilities, you will be interacting closely with Trading & Sales business users on a daily basis enables the team to develop strong working relationships with the desk.



    • On a daily basis, we are responsible for supporting the electronic trading and risk management systems for our Foreign Exchange, Commodities & Interested Rates businesses.
    • Our in-house monitoring and management tools cover thousands of processes running on hundreds of hosts located in data centres across the world. Our team is located in Hong Kong, Tokyo, Warsaw, London and New York. 
    • We manage all incidents in the electronic trading environments and take any follow-up actions necessary to ensure system stability. We work closely with SMM traders, sales, software developers and other engineers on a daily basis. 
    • Aside from productions management and monitoring, we are involved in project work: enhancing extending, and simplifying our productions environment plus meeting business needs using various technologies with support from our global team of experts. We try to maintain a 50/50 split between support and project work. 
    • In this team, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of electronic trading across multiple asset classes ranging from high volume FX trades to complex derivatives in Commodities and Interest Rates. 
    • You will work with various technologies including Linux, Java, SQL and Goldman Sachs' proprietary technologies: Slang and Sec Db.

    • Superb troubleshooting skills. 
    • Ability to take responsibility, work independently and coordinate with a team. 
    • Experience with high availability systems - if it fails many people notice. 
    • Experience with at least one programming/scripting language, and eagerness to develop this further and learn, as reading and understanding code is required for this position. 
    • Self-motivation to learn about new businesses and ownership of support issues and development projects. 
    • Great communication skills - as daily coordination with our global team is essential. 
    • Ability to stay calm and maintain perspective under pressure.
