    RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

    GS SUSTAIN looks to analyse and understand companies’ ESG performance in an environment where this has become a critical consideration for equity investors. The group has established an analytical framework to do this over ten years and writes research on topical ESG issues including climate change and carbon, ESG regulation and individual company research in collaboration with equity analysts.  

     

    We are looking for an Analyst to join our GS SUSTAIN Research effort in Asia. Principal responsibilities include:

    • Providing support to the lead SUSTAIN Analyst in Asia
    • Analyzing companies’ ESG performance using GS SUSTAIN infrastructure and a range of external information sources
    • Writing research notes on a standalone basis and in collaboration with single stock analysts  
    • Contributing to global research on ESG themes such as regulation, climate change, human rights
    • Conducting statistical analysis of ESG data and drawing conclusions
    • Responding to ad hoc requests from clients, sales and traders
    • Performing company analysis using SUSTAIN ESG infrastructure
    • Communicating with the equities sales force and traders, clients and company managements

     Basic Qualifications

    • Demonstrated interest or previous experience in Sustainability/ESG
    • Working knowledge of accounting, finance, and valuation, proficiency in Excel
    • Excellent analytical skills
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong team orientation and attention to detail

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Japanese language capabilities are strongly preferable
    • Experience in investment research, financial modelling and analysis
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment
    • Comfortable taking initiative and being resourceful/entrepreneurial
    • Ability to multi-task and work with numerous teams
