Strats
Goldman Sachs’ Strats business unit is a world leader in developing quantitative and technological techniques to solve complex business problems. Working within the firm’s trading, sales, banking and investment management divisions, strats use their mathematical and scientific training to create financial products, advise clients on transactions, measure risk, and identify market opportunities.
Roles within Securities Strats
Securities Strats play important roles in several areas. Some Strats sit on trading desks, creating cutting-edge derivative pricing models and developing empirical models to provide insight into market behavior. Others develop automated trading algorithms for the firm and its clients, taking an active part in the increasing shift from voice to electronic trading. A third group works directly with the firm’s sales force and clients, analyzing exposures, structuring transactions, and applying quantitative concepts to meet client needs. Between these teams, Core Strats design and develop complex parallel computing architectures, electronic trading tools, and advanced algorithms.
Fundamental Strats Group (FSG)
The team sits within the Securities Division that works with equity and credit sales and trading to come up with trade recommendations for clients.
The team in Bengaluru will work closely with the global team and internal/external stakeholders.

OUR IMPACT
Accounting Services Division (ASD) is part of the Operations division of Goldman Sachs based at 3 offices across the globe (Singapore, Bengaluru and Dallas). The core functions of ASD are;
1) Accounts Payable - the processing and control of the payments to vendors/service providers the firm engages to run the businesses
2) Expense management - the settlement of employees’ travel and entertainment expenses
We interact with the stakeholders from all the divisions in the firm and work effectively with our partner companies who support the operational processes/employee’s expense programs. Current key focus in ASD is transforming the traditional manual processing to automated, scalable and self-service workflow in order to manage risks effectively and bring in commercial values to the firm.
In Singapore ASD, we interact with local vendors/banks in markets such as Japan, China, Korea etc where the local language capability is required to perform the functions.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL
- Lead and manage local and multi-region projects along with the ability to adapt to the changing priorities
- Supervise the day-to-day processes of Accounts Payable and Travel and Entertainment expenses for Asia entities together with the manager and team leaders.
- Be the first point of escalation on exceptions and issues the team encounters. Effectively resolve them with front to back understanding of system/process workflow and implication of the issues.
- Plan and manage the team’s coverage for day-to-day operation as well as project executions to achieve the department’s goal and deliverables.
- Oversee the processes managed by vendors and effectively engage them for quality assurance.
- Partner with Travel and Entertainment expenses program provider and up keep the relationship with them
- Acquire in depth understanding of the regulations, tax handling and accounting controls in multiple jurisdictions in Asia associated with vendor/expense payments. Ensure the comprehensive procedures are in place in compliance with the Firm’s Bank Holding Company requirements.
- Understand and ensure the team adheres the firm’s policies on vendor governance, payment risk management and document controls.
- Risk Management - Continuously re-evaluate process controls and balance the risk versus benefits to protect the firm. Recommend and implement corrective & preventive actions for identified errors and issues
- Keeps pace with technical innovation and market driven initiatives across the team
- Conduct data analysis to identify the trend/root cases in order to effectively engage the stakeholders to address problems and opportunities for improvements

The Tax Department undertakes a variety of activities including tax compliance work, managing tax audits, reviewing products and trades, assisting in the establishment and monitoring of transfer pricing policies, managing tax risk and assisting in the establishment of new business lines/ventures. The Tax Department also assists in the structuring of proprietary investments by the firm as well as providing advice across the firm on tax related matters.

Bangalore MS SQL DBA team provides coverage for Asia, Bangalore and EMEA clients and key for banking and firm wide applications which runs on MS SQL Server. It also affects project work along with work required in DC3. This position has primary support responsibility for Asia (including Bengaluru) and EMEA.

- Data Lake Engineers are responsible for the Firm’s strategic repository for enterprise data. Engineering teams across the Firm are our clients, participating in providing and consuming data to & from the lake. Developers on the team create and manage the software that manages the data in the lake, ensure entitlements are enforced appropriately, data is milestoned, and is available for query on multiple target warehouse platforms. This platform enables structuring, management, integration, control, discovery, usage, and governance of our Data Assets. - Middleware Engineers provide software based infrastructure solutions for data products as a managed service, both on premise and in the public cloud, and subject matter expertise to application teams. This group ensures the firm is positioned for emerging technology offerings and spans Big Data, Database, Messaging, Service Discovery, External Financial Messaging and related engineering efforts. You will be part of a global team responsible for designing, innovating with and maintaining a cohesive managed service offering data platform at scale. - Reconciliation Engineers provide the highest level of reconciliation services globally to internal/external business clients while maintaining a controlled and risk-regulated environment and ensuring the deployment of standard reconciliation framework across the Firm. Our strategic reconciliation platform is dedicated to the processing of reconciliation in real time/batch and provides capabilities such as high volume processing, scalable, resilient, complex matching logic, workflow integration, and control/oversight services.
HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL
All roles in Data Architecture offer the opportunity to work Directly with various senior stakeholder across Technology Division and their Business sponsors. Participate in design, build out, and maintenance of a distributed, multi-region, scalable, resilient platform. Collaborate with core engineering consumers and the BU aligned development community at large to analyze and resolve escalations. You will collect requirements, and assess technical feasibility of their requests of your clients and adjacent technology platforms. Your clients’ background range from very technical engineers, to more functional and business facing analysts and managers. Partner with other engineering teams to understand technology offerings and how they can be applied and leveraged as part of our solutions.
- Data Lake Development team is looking for individuals who are interested in building java services and application components for high performance, high data volume applications using the latest technology stack, and are willing to learn. The Data Lake is being adopted by technology teams across the Firm at a very high rate. As a result the platform is still growing and evolving. As a developer on the Data Lake team, you will work with the latest technologies such as Apache Spark, Kafka, Elastic Search, and Akka to build complex distributed applications to handle large data sets.

Data Lake User Engagement team is looking for individuals who can provide strategic thinking and recommend technical solutions to engineering teams across the firm engaged in big data initiatives. As a Solutions Architect you will work closely with the development team to understand the Data Lake offering and be a technical subject matter expert which you will apply to guide our clients to effectively use the Data Lake platform. You will help to remediate user’s configuration, stability and performance issues through your hands-on experience with the Data Lake and knowledge of the latest big data technologies such as Apache Hadoop, Spark and Flink as well as development experience with Java and Python.
- Middleware Engineering is looking for engineers who will be at the center of data platform automation and scale. As a developer in this group, you are responsible for the strategy and execution of how to scale all of the firm’s databases (> 90,000 Databases on 13 Platforms comprising a variety of Relational DBMS, the Hadoop Stack, Public DBaaS offerings and other NoSQL solutions), messaging offerings (including Kafka, RabbitMQ, Tibco RV, Tibco EMS & WebSphere MQ, public cloud service offerings), external payment messaging systems and various proprietary in-house offerings related to service discovery and distributed computing. The group offers exposure to full stack development, primarily in both Java and Python, to drive an operational interaction model that is heavily automated with services and compute to enable such scale. This role exposes you to public cloud strategy, how to drive highly available solutions, the data needs of all business lines at Goldman Sachs, current industry trends and opportunities to influence data technologies outside of the firm.
- Reconciliation Platform is being adopted by technology teams across the Firm. As a result, the platform is still growing and evolving. The recon team is looking for individuals who are interested in building Java Services and Application Components for high performance, high data volume applications using the latest technology stack.
